From a high-level perspective, numerous take- aways present themselves. Overall, the 6,193 reported sales in 2018 were a scant 79 fewer than the 2017 total of 6,272. At a little over 1 percent, this decrease rates as a rounding error. Notwith- standing the minimal change, the total dollar volume increased to $1.29 billion, a healthy 5.5 percent uptick over the previous year. Simply put, in 2018 fewer proper- ties with larger price tags changed hands. e state's energy sector was credited with stoking demand for recreational and investment properties, espe- cially during the fourth quarter. e robust health of this all-important sector of the Texas economy has long been the driver of transaction volume and pricing.
