A Who's Who in the cattle industry made the pilgrimage to the Express Ranches Sale Barn just west of Oklahoma City to attend The Big Event, which is hosted annually by Land Report 100er Bob Funk Sr. (see page 112). Funk's Express Ranches ranks as the nation's leading seedstock producer, and this year's Big Event proved why. A total of 492 head were sold to 189 buyers from 36 states. All told, the two-day sale grossed $5,571,920, for an average of $11,325 per head. Lot 100, EXAR Penny 4000, took top open heifer honors.
