Part of the reason was because the land was in Los Angeles. Another part was because L.A. is the largest media market in the country without an NFL franchise. The last part is the clincher: Guess who owns the St. Louis Rams, a team that was based in Southern California from 1946 to 1994? To top it off, in all likelihood, the team's lease will expire at the end of this season. The Missouri native has a decided penchant for top franchises.
